Max Domi Shaves Beard for #FundRazor and Raises Over $60K in Two Days for T1D

Dad Tie does the shaving, with proceeds going to the JDRF Revolution Ride

NHL star Max Domi of the Arizona Coyotes was at Toronto’s Starks Barber Co. earlier this month, getting his beard shaved to raise money for his wildly successful #Fundrazor for Diabetes! All proceeds from the #FundRazor are being donated to the JDRF Revolution Ride to Defeat Diabetes, presented by Sun Life Financial, and Max himself has donated an additional $10,000!

The shave was done by none other than legendary Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer – and Max’s dad – Tie Domi. Ascensia Diabetes Care and the CONTOUR® NEXT brand hosted the event and invited Max’s friends and family and the public, who have been tremendously supportive of the #FundRazor campaign.

Before and after

Max has been working with Ascensia and the CONTOUR® NEXT brand for the last two years to raise awareness about diabetes and support those living with the disease. To date, he has raised over $60,000 on his GoFundMe page, with a goal of $100K. Sun Life Financial has generously donated an additional $10,000 to the campaign and fight against diabetes.

"The diagnosis of type 1 diabetes at age 12 was life changing for me," says Domi. "Being a professional athlete has now given me the platform to support those living with the disease and let them know I'm in their corner. Every day is a challenge, so if I can share my story to help inspire others to go after their goals and live remarkable lives, it's worth it."

To his fans who live with T1D, Domi adds these words of wisdom: “Control your diabetes, don’t let diabetes control you. Everyone has a dream and, whether you’re trying to become a major league hockey player, a teacher or whatever you want to be, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.”

Fans can still visit Max Domi's #FundRazor for Diabetes GoFundMe page to learn more and make a donation for a chance to win prize giveaways:
