JDRF Canada Announces New President and CEO

On behalf of the JDRF Canada Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Prowten as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of JDRF Canada. Dave is an exceptional leader, bringing to JDRF his expertise in fundraising, strategic leadership, resource development, marketing/sales, and execution of business strategies.

Dave earned his Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University in 1988 and began his career at Quaker Oats where he spent ten years in Marketing and Sales. Following this, he moved into the not-for-profit sector with WWF-Canada and held a wide variety of roles in fundraising, marketing and communications. In 1994, he joined The Arthritis Society as National Vice President Revenue Development and Marketing where he had direct responsibility for corporate partnerships, direct response, national events and communications programs, as well as working with all divisions to maximize revenue. In his current role as Executive Director of the Arthritis Research Foundation, he has worked directly with a dedicated research team to develop unique fundraising initiatives and deepened his understanding of the research environment in the hospital and university settings.

We look forward to having Dave on board as a transformational leader who will capture not only the spirit, but the true motivation behind all those dedicated to JDRF as we continue to work toward finding a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).

In order to ensure a smooth transition for Dave into his new role as President and CEO, Andrew McKee will continue to assist and be present in the JDRF office throughout the initial months of this changeover. We are delighted to welcome Dave into the JDRF family on September 5th, 2013, and look forward to the progress he will bring to JDRF and our mission to cure T1D.

As always, we thank you for your continued support.

Aubrey Baillie
Chairman, Board of Directors
