Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes for JDRF
Many thanks to all the riders who showed such enthusiasm on October 3rd at the Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes in Hamilton.
Each and every Team Captain, rider and donor has made an impact on the lives of the many children and adults living with type one diabetes (T1D) Thank you all for your support.
The fundraising does not have to stop yet though. If you did not reach your goal of $750 per team, there is still time to send out another e mail to friends or family you were not able to reach, or maybe even hold an internal fundraiser at work, such as a bake sale or dress down day with donations going to your Ride team.
Many thanks also go to Maegan, Joelle, Celine and Patricia from the Energy Lab for putting our riders through their paces.
As always, the event would not be possible without the help of the many volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to make sure you have an enjoyable experience.
We are calculating team totals and hope to have them sent out to you shortly.
If your team was not able to Ride in Hamilton, there is still an opportunity to pedal for a cure at the 2019 Burlington Micro Ride on Thursday, November 14th!
Join us as we celebrate World Diabetes Day on Thursday November 14th at the Micro Ride being held at The Fitness Firm, 15 Plains Rd. West, Burlington. The teams will be pedaling at 12 noon! Call Anne at 905.664.1432 for information or register your team today at 2019 Burlington Micro Ride

There are so many people to thank for the success of the 2019 event.
To each participant who came and walked with us (whether you created or joined a team or walked as an individual) your support of our mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) is much appreciated. We do hope that everyone had an amazing and inspirational day, especially those walkers who participated for the first time, we can't wait to see you all again in 2020!
Thank you to each person who supported our amazing walkers with a donation and thank you to our regional and local sponsors: Alectra Utilities, Dexcom, Ippolito Produce, Lococo’s, Maple Leaf Foods, Tandem Diabetes Care, Trial Net, Trophy Foods, and Ypsomed Diabetes Care. We hope you will all join us again in 2020, as we continue our battle to turn type one into type none.
What a difference a year makes!!
The 2019 SunLife Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF in Brantford was blessed with amazing sunny weather on June 23rd, which was very welcome after the thunderstorms that forced us to cancel the event last year.
Over 300 walkers enjoyed that wonderful weather at D’Aubigny Creek Park, many of them on teams who joined us for the first time, and we thank them for their support and dedication.
Thanks also go to each and every person who supported our walkers with a donation in support of T1D research. Thanks to our regional and local sponsors: Brantwood Farms, Brantford Pipe and Drum, Brantford Fire Department, Cobblestones, Dionna Emery, Freshco, Magical Midways, Maple Lodge Farms, Rylan Photography, Sobeys, Tim Hortons, Trial Net and Ypsomed Diabetes Care. Again, we have an amazing group of volunteers, who work very hard, before the event and on Walk day, to ensure a smooth and enjoyable event for everyone, we could not do this without them!
If you participated in either Hamilton or Brantford and still have pledges to submit, please send them to: P.O. Box 93085, Headon Road P.O., Burlington ON L7M 4A3, so that we can receipt your donors in a timely manner
Niagara Region Walk in St. Catharines.
Sunday September 8th was the day of the final Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF in our area, with great weather and over 300 participants enjoying an inspiring day mingling with other families affected by T1D.
There are many people to thank for the success of the day including each and every walker, donor and sponsor who made their contribution.
Music was provided by Rob Leonard and Blake Halladay, and Cornwall the Dragon and Sparky D made an appearance to entertain the kids!
A very special thank you goes to each and every volunteer who played their part, either before the day, or on the day of the event.

Whether it's the Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF, the Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes for JDRF, or any other JDRF event that takes place during the year, they all require a considerable amount of volunteer help.
This help can be pre-event, working on one of many committees involving recruitment of participants, solicitation of sponsorships for items and services, or day-of-event duties such as registration, route supervision, kids activities, barbecue/refreshment area, etc.
For information on the many volunteer opportunities available, please contact Anne Martin at 905.664.1432/1.866.602.6662 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteers are the backbone of JDRF and their support is truly appreciated!
