Community Engagement

JDRF is pleased to provide our complimentary Bag of Hope to our newly diagnosed families, containing a variety of educational and reference materials that will help you along the way.

As a special gift, children under the age of 12 will also receive a Rufus or Ruby, The Bear with Diabetes™, designed to help children cope and learn about insulin injections.

Mentor Program

When a loved one is diagnosed with diabetes, it can be a traumatic and stressful time. Fear, sadness, anger and confusion about how to manage the disease can leave families feeling alone and overwhelmed.

You are not alone. JDRF’s Family Network of Volunteers can help!

Through the Family Network, families touched by diabetes can be connected with a trained mentor, receive much needed emotional support and information about diabetes resources, as well as education about what they can do to help find a cure.

JDRF’s Family Network is made up of regular families dealing with similar struggles. It is an invaluable support network to those living with T1D.

Please check us out on Facebook.

Volunteers Wanted

Whether it's the Walk to Cure Diabetes or any other JDRF event that takes place during the year, they all require a considerable amount of volunteer help.

This help can be pre-event, working on one of many committees involving recruitment of participants, solicitation of sponsorships for items and services, or day-of-event duties such as registration, route supervision, kids activities, barbecue/refreshment area, etc.

For information on the many volunteer opportunities available, please contact Tracey Raycroft at 705.792.4833 or

Volunteers are the backbone of JDRF and their support is truly appreciated!
