2018 Walk to Cure Diabetes

June 10, 2018 - Mission Creek Park

We invite you to be part of something bigger than just a Walk. Join a powerful movement to create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). Be part of a collective rally that brings together thousands of people whose lives are touched by T1D every day, who are tired of the hardship of this disease, who want to be heard, raise money, and change the face of T1D forever.

Community Engagement

You are not alone.... JDRF's Family Network of Volunteers can help

It’s all about being there for each other. Your child has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). What do you do now? When a loved one is diagnosed with T1D, it can be a traumatic and stressful time. Fear, sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion about how to manage the disease can leave families feeling alone and overwhelmed. Please feel free to join us for our monthly T1D Parent Meetings, as we can share our experiences in an informal setting, giving opportunity to learn from each other. The adult meetings are open to extended family members and friends that want to learn more about the disease and how to best support their loved ones.

Kelowna meetings are held on the second Monday of every month, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Interior Health Building (505 Doyle Avenue) in Kelowna.

In case of holidays or summer meeting dates, please join our facebook group "Okanagan Type One Parents"  or contact Kim Findlater for updated information on our meetings at 250-768-4843 or

We hope to see you there!

Community Events (Third-party)

Looking to plan your own event to fundraise for JDRF? Hosting a community (third-party) event is a great way to show support, increase type 1 diabetes (T1D) awareness, and raise funds for research, all while having a fun time!

Third-party fundraisers are events organized independently by an outside (third) party, and supported by JDRF. Some examples of third-party fundraisers include cycling events, lemonade stands, concerts, crazy hair days at school, or having a jeans day at the office. If you wish to host a community event, please contact Shannon Jolley at

13th Annual Starlight Gala

Saturday, October 20, 2018       Coast Capri Hotel

You are cordially invited to attend the 13th annual Starlight Gala in support of JDRF and celebrate the advances we’ve made in type 1 diabetes (T1D) research! Over the past 12 years, we have raised an incredible $1.5 million to date. These funds play a vital role in helping JDRF accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of cutting edge advances to cure, better treat, and prevent T1D. Thank you to all the generous guests, donors, sponsors, and volunteers who made this possible!

Please stay tuned as more details for this year's Starlight Gala become available!
