JDRF Diabetes Research Presentation featuring Dr. Sarah Linklater
November 6 - Coast Kamloops Hotel & Conference Centre
The pace of research over the past 40 years has been extrarodinary, and JDRF remains committed to staying at the forefront of T1D research innovation.
We invite you for an update on our most exciting research projects and our vision for the future of JDRF Canada as part of a larger, global organization from Dr. Sarah Linklater, JDRF Canada's newly appointed Chief Scientific Officer.
Sarah has over a decade of extensive experience as a professional scientific editor, with a focus on clinical diabetes and endocrinology, basic immunology and other areas of the life sciences. In her role as JDRF Canada's CSO, Sarah will lead the progress of our research partnerships and support our efforts to effectively engage the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community.
Join us in Kamloops for this free event to network with other T1Ds, see the latest in T1D management technology and learn more about how JDRF is driving the pace of science leading to better treatments and eventually a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Doors will open at 6:30 for registration and networking reception featuring the most popular T1D technology provider, Abbott, Dexcom, Medtronic, Omnipod, Tandem, and Ypsomed. Presentations will start at 7:30, and we plan to allow 15 minutes for questions at the end.
Snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided. This event is free. Pre-registration via Eventbrite is required.

Diabetes Distress: Okanagan
November 9 - Kelowna Downtown Library
As a community, people living with Type 1 Diabetes face disproportionate rates of mental health concerns due to the relentless burden of managing this often stigmatized condition.
In recognition, JDRF BC & Yukon is pleased to announce our signature free community event, taking place in Kelowna as part of National Diabetes Awareness Month this November.
Diabetes Distress: A Community Conversation.
Our community event features a key note speech from Dr. Tricia Tang, a psychologist and UBC researcher who specializes in Diabetes Distress, a unique mental health concern facing our community. Joined by local experts Dr. Tang will lead a conversation about the issue, sharing strategies that help, and ways you can access support.
Join us in Kelowna for this free event to network with other T1Ds and learn more about addressing this often overlooked complication of living with Type 1 Diabetes.
