The 5th annual edition of the Port City Beer Run taking place in Saint John is looking to be another huge success. Last year raised almost $10,000 for diabetes research! This amazing event is a 3, 5 or 10 km run (or walk) in the beautiful Port City of Saint John, NB, with beer sampling taking place at the Diamond Jubiliee Cruise Terminal, on Water Street. A beautiful route, including a portion of Saint John’s very own Harbour Passage.
A huge thank you to the organizing committee, all event sponsors, partners and volunteers for their ongoing support! For more information on our 5th annual run or to register, please visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/PortCityBeerRun/.
Bag of Hope
JDRF is pleased to provide our complimentary Bag of Hope, which contains a variety of educational and reference materials to help newly diagnosed children and their families along the way.
As a special gift, children under the age of 12 will also receive a Rufus bear, The Bear with Diabetes™, designed to help children cope and learn about insulin injections.

Your child has just been diagnosed with diabetes - what do you do now? When a loved one is diagnosed with diabetes, it can be a traumatic and stressful time. Fear, sadness, anger and confusion about how to manage the disease can leave families feeling alone and overwhelmed.
You are not alone - JDRF's Mentor Program Volunteers can help.
The Mentor Program can provide much needed emotional support, information about diabetes resources, education about T1D management, research and many more. JDRF's Family Network is free of charge, and we are here to help as long as you need it.
For more information or just someone to talk to who has walked in your shoes, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Local Support Groups
There are several support groups that meet throughout New Brunswick to provide peer support to families and individuals living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
For more information on dates, locations and format of these group meetings, please contact Jessica at 506.227.5365 or send an email to email@example.com.
Whether it's the Walk to Cure Diabetes, the Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes, or any other JDRF event that takes place during the year, they all require a considerable amount of volunteer help.
This help can be pre-event, like working on a committee and helping with participant recruitment, sponsorship solicitation, etc, as well as day-of-event duties, including registration, route supervision, kids activities, refreshment area, etc.
For information on the many volunteer opportunities available, please contact Jessica at 506.227.5365 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteers are the backbone of JDRF and their support is truly appreciated!
