On November 3, 2018, JDRF will host its 27th annual Denim & Diamonds Gala in support of diabetes research at the Delta Edmonton South Conference Centre. The Gala is an entertaining event that raises money to fund research for treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes.
The Denim & Diamonds Gala is a premier celebration that allows guests to sit back, relax, and enjoy a high energy, elegant night out on the town, while gaining insight on the impact of type 1 diabetes on individuals and their families.
Delicious food, delightful auction items, exciting raffle prizes, enjoyable entertainment - these are just a few of the things you can expect from an evening at the Denim & Diamonds Gala!

A new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) can trigger a range of reactions, including anger, sadness and guilt. Whatever your feelings, they are normal and you are not alone.
Life with T1D can pose challenges for every member of the family. Whether you have T1D yourself, are the parent or have a loved one with T1D, it takes time to adapt to the day-to-day demands of diabetes. Treatment options are improving all the time, and T1D does not need to prevent you or your child or loved one from living a full and active life. As time goes by, everyone will gain knowledge and confidence, and be able to celebrate successes, learn from mistakes, and move away from the intense feelings common immediately after diagnosis.
Until there is a cure, we want to provide information that will help you cope with the burdens T1D can impose, and take advantage of the help that is presently available. For more information please contact us at email@example.com or 780-428-0343.
JDRF’s Bag of Hope program is a free resource which provides information and support to families with children who are newly diagnosed with T1D. The Bag of Hope is filled with relevant diabetes education materials and supportive materials. If your child is 12 years or younger, you will also receive a Rufus Bear. This bear with diabetes is designed to help little ones cope and learn about insulin injections.
In addition to the Bag of Hope, you will automatically receive JDRF's newsletter to keep you abreast of JDRF’s efforts to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. You can request your Bag of Hope by clicking here.
For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 780-428-0343.
Join us at Starbucks South point (3227 Calgary Trail - In Chapters) to connect over coffee with other T1D parents or caregivers at our bi-monthly coffee meet up - the third Saturday of every other month at 10:00 am. Please note that we ask that you try not to bring your children so that everyone is free to speak about the highs and lows of living with T1D. Look out for the JDRF Sneaker on the table and we hope to see you there!
The next meet up will be:
We are excited to announce our new Stay & Play support group! Our first event will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre. This is a space that is meant for T1D children and their families (siblings included!) but space will be limited so please RSVP at email@example.com or on our facebook page.
Through our mentorship program, families and individuals touched by diabetes, can be paired with a trained mentor - someone who has experienced the challenges of being newly diagnosed. Family Mentors can provide information about diabetes resources and educate families about how they can help find a cure. Our mentorship program is free of charge and membership never expires!
Please note: our team can only share their personal experiences with you. We are not healthcare professionals and are unable to provide medical advice. The information provided by our team is not intended to take the place of medical advice, for which you should consult your doctor or other healthcare professionals.
