Robert Goldstein, MD, PhD

Senior Scientific Advisor

Dr. Robert Goldstein, MD, PhD, serves as Senior Advisor to JDRF CCTN. In this role, he provides independent and expert input to help oversee trials and studies implemented by JDRF CCTN.

Dr. Goldstein was previously Senior Vice President, Scientific Affairs, for JDRF, where he was responsible for guiding national and international research programs, and for developing JDRF’s relationships with global institutions and with the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Goldstein has also been Director of the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation at the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Goldstein received his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University, his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, his PhD (in microbiology/immunology) from George Washington University, and his MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Dr. Goldstein has authored more than 60 scientific publications and is a reviewer for a number of scientific journals, including the Journal of the American Medicine Association (JAMA), the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), the Annals of Internal Medicine, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He has served on many advisory committees, including the European Science Foundation, the U.K. National Institute for Health Research Advisory Board, the Science Board of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Agenxia Italiana del Farmaco, and the U.S. National Academies of Science.
