When I was young, I loved to play with mini-plastic food toys. It was so cool seeing my favourite foods in miniature size looking so delicious—even in plastic form!
Flash forward to today when counting carbs is critical when it comes to diabetes management. To help with portion control, I recently started drinking orange juice from a shot glass, and choosing kid-size Tupperware to carry my lunch and snacks. It struck me funny that perhaps the miniature food portions I used to play with as a kid aren’t so far off from today! Although that’s slightly dramatic, it’s true that it can be very difficult to stick to smaller portions when it comes to foods with higher carbohydrates. I’m finding my small Tupperware containers are one way I can manage my food better at work.
