JDRF's Blog Anniversary

Girl with Blog Sign

At JDRF we are always looking for ways we can connect with individuals affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) across Canada and the rest of the world. On September 11, 2012 JDRF Canada launched its very own blog to share stories of inspiration, challenges, exciting news and information in the T1D community. Today we are happy to celebrate the one year anniversary of the JDRF blog.

The JDRF Blog started out with bi-weekly postings every other Monday; however, we received such positive feedback that we increased our frequency to weekly postings.  The blog is a great way for the T1D community across Canada, to come together through an online platform.  Since we can’t always be supporting one another in person, it helps to have an outlet to communicate, share stories of triumphs, challenges, and provide support for one another through the blog.

Over the last year the blogs have focused on a variety of topics and have been written by many guest bloggers as well as JDRF staff members and volunteers. The fact that so many people have been contributing allows the blog to provide a well-rounded perspective on life with T1D. Some of the blogs authors include Sebastien Sasseville, Kim Cooper, Philip Welford, messages from JDRF’s President and CEO, diabetes caregivers, JDRF Ambassadors and volunteers.

We ask members of the JDRF community to email us their stories or experiences to mystory@jdrf.ca so we can include your personal stories on our blog. Reading about other people that are living with T1D and how they are dealing with the disease, helps others realize that they are not alone and provides a sense of community for all of those living with T1D.
