Did you join the community?
Where did you join the community this weekend? On Sunday, June 8, I personally joined the community in Vancouver, BC for the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes. What an incredible, fun-filled day at Stanley Park! I saw families, friends and corporate teams taking part and uniting as one community to raise funds for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. As always, it was such an inspiration to interact with the participants and meet individuals of all ages and stages of life, living with the daily challenges of T1D.
The 2014 TELUS Walk goal is to reach $8 million to support T1D research to cure, better treat and prevent the disease. While the main walk events are now over, there are still community walks taking place into the fall months, so the fundraising continues as we work toward our goal. After witnessing the great turnout and hearing positive comments about the Walks from across Canada, I’m confident that we’ll all help to exceed our goals!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Walk campaign across the country such a success, and to those who are still planning and fundraising for upcoming walks. Your support and dedication is truly inspiring and appreciated!
