McKinley is a very active 12-year-old. She plays both winter and spring hockey as well as softball and is currently taking horse riding lessons. McKinley loves giving back to her community and has fundraised for various organizations like Hanna’s Haven Dog Rescue, Ronald McDonald House, Diabetes Canada, and JDRF. Both her paternal grandmother and her dad are also Type 1 diabetic and along with her family, McKinley is passionate and personally invested in finding a cure for diabetes. During Diabetes Month in November, she plays an active role in raising awareness at her school and is always willing to share her story and experiences living with this disease.
