Kieran was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at the age of 2 and has participated in the JDRF Walk with his family almost every year since, raising a total of over $10,000. He has been a JDRF youth ambassador and has raised awareness about type 1 diabetes by sharing information about this disease with his classmates and teachers. When he was 4, he asked Chris Jarvis, Olympic rower with T1D to speak about his experience at his school. His hobbies include playing sports such as hockey, baseball, soccer and basketball and having lightsaber battles with his family. This year, he made the local rep hockey team and he aspires to be a hockey player in the NHL one day. For Kieran, a cure would mean no more finger pokes, needles, checking his sugar levels when playing sports or counting carbs.
