The Ride for Diabetes Research is a fun team-building event comprised of teams of five that ride a stationary-bike for seven minutes each, all while raising funds to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). The ride is high energy, full of corporate spirit, and invites friendly competition among colleagues. Corporations involved are passionate about helping JDRF reach their goal of curing, better treating and preventing T1D. Event participation for a team only takes 1 hour from warm-up to completion, however we encourage each team to arrive ½ hour before their start time to check in and pick up their incentive prize. Lunch, fantastic music and fabulous prizes are all provided!

Sector challenges in Banking, Legal, Accounting, Insurance, Real Estate and Mining among others, promote friendly competition with other businesses in your community who battle it out to take top company status in your local site.

Issue A Challenge
If you know of any other companies that might like to join in on the excitement or that you'd like to issue a challenge to, please contact Robyn at rketner@jdrf.ca.

Riders must collect a minimum of $125 individually in pledges to participate or a collective team total of $625.

To hear more about getting your company or team involved, join us at your local Kick Off where we will be launching the 2013 Ride Awards, including Best Team Spirit, Top Fundraiser, Best Team Costume, and more!

 Community Fundraisers

A community fundraiser is a fundraising event for JDRF that is organized independently by an outside (third) party. Many different community groups, businesses, and individuals show their support for diabetes research every year by hosting events or making corporate donations to JDRF.

If you or your company, club, or group is interested in helping raise funds for JDRF, there are many ways to do so, from raffles to barbecues, bake sales to car washes, and golf tournaments to galas. The only limit is your imagination!

For more information, or to host a community fundraiser in support of JDRF, please contact Robyn at rketner@jdrf.ca.

Participating schools will achieve several objectives:

  • creating awareness and understanding of T1D

  • Giving children an opportunity to help each other

  • Enhanced knowledge of the importance of proper nutrition and exercise

  • Getting students physically active with participation in a Walk at school

  •  Creating school community spirit while rallying behind an important cause
