Insulin Pump Coverage Update
On Thursday, March 7, 2013, during the Budget speech for the Alberta Government, Premiere Alison Redford continued to support her government's election promise to ensure that insulin pumps were funded under Alberta Health Care. JDRF is extremely happy with this announcement! We are currently waiting for more information from the government, and will pass it on to you as soon as we have it.
Please contact Barbara J. Armstrong for more information and current updates on the insulin pump coverage.

Volunteers
We all want to personally thank you for all you do...
"I would just like to send warm hugs to all our volunteers."
Barbara J. Armstrong, Regional Manager
"As not only a staff member with JDRF but someone with type 1 diabetes, I appreciate more than anyone could know the dedication and love that we feel daily from our volunteers. We truly would not be successful if it wasn't for our volunteers. Thank you so very much!" Dori Gibbon, Fundraising & Development Coordinator

"To all of the volunteers to help me out on a regular basis with the Kids Walk Program, Cyclebetes and Gala, THANK YOU! You might think your contribution is small but it all adds up to ensuring that we have the best events possible!" Cheryl Vickers, Fundraising & Development Coordinator
"Wishing you a fabulous life just for being you." Cheryl Mayes, Fundraising & Development Coordinator

"The volunteers at JDRF aren't just donating their time and skills, they're giving a valuable contribution to change the lives of hundreds of people with T1D. I'm truly touched when people thank us for letting them help any way they can. Your commitment is close to your heart." Carrie MacDonald, Fundraising Assistant
"Volunteers don't just do the work ~ they make it work" Leslie Hunter, Fundraising & Development Coordinator
Ways You Can Donate
ADESA Auctions
CARS, TRUCKS, HEAVY EQUIPMENT, TRACTORS, RECREATIONAL VEHICLES, RV’S, BOATS, ATV’S, MOTORCYCLES, AND SNOWMOBILES…….
JDRF through ADESA Public Auctions can take them all!!!!
When you call to make a donation to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) we will require:
- owners name, address and phone number
- where the item is located and if it can be driven
- description of the item (year, make, model and VIN if applicable)
ADESA will then contact you to arrange for pick up or delivery. Once sold the net proceeds of the sale will go to JDRF. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation and will have helped to raise funds for important research in the mission to find a cure for T1D and its complications.
For more information about donating your item to JDRF call 780-428-0343, 1-855-428-0343, or email edmonton@jdrf.ca.

Did you know that JDRF is a part of the Kernels Virtual Charity Gift Card program? JDRF receives 10% of each gift card sold when JDRF is selected and there's no added cost to the purchaser. Gift cards are emailed directly to you for instant use! For more information visit: kernelspopcorn.com/OrderProductsVirtualGiftCardCharity.aspx.

Office Supplies
We are proud to state that $0.80 of every $1.00 goes to research that will find the cure and treat the complications of type 1 diabetes. That leaves $0.20 of every $1.00 to run our Chapter! Donations of office supplies help us to keep the Chapter costs low. Your generous donations are ALWAYS appreciated.
Edmonton Chapter office would appreciate donations of: memory sticks (6), paper towel, and magnetic name tag holders (click here for an example of what we're looking for). Last year we found out that we are responsible for sweeping and mopping the floor of the fitness centre after Walk. With that in mind, we are looking for either donations of large mops, buckets, and large brooms or a cleaning company to donate their time to help us clean on Walk day. If you know of anyone, please call the office

On November 3, 2012, we held our 21st annual Denim & Diamonds Gala at the Shaw Conference Centre. This spectacular evening started off with a complimentary cocktail sponsored by Hedstrom Mechanical Ltd./Access Irrigation while being serenaded by Michaela Clarke. The formal part of the evening began with a tribute to our Honouree, Len Kerekanich, and ended with our guests dancing to music by The Stampeders. Thank you to our sponsors, Hedstrom Mechanical Ltd., Access Irrigation, Pharmacy at Safeway, PMA, The Sutton Place Hotel, and BMO Bank of Montreal. Our floral sponsors were Graham & Lane Florists, Callingwood Garden Flowers, Mayfield Flowers and Ailien Floral & Decorating. Without their support, we would not be able to put 80 cents of every dollar directly to research so thank you again.
Our 22nd annual Denim & Diamonds Gala will be held at the Shaw Conference Centre on November 16, 2013. Stay tuned to details. If you would like to be one of our sponsors or know of a business or person who would be willing to help sponsor our event. or would just like more information, please contact Cheryl Vickers. We have sponsorships available at many different levels so there is something for everyone.
