You Are Not Alone… Join our T1D Parent Group Meetings

It’s all about being there for each other. Your child has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). What do you do now? When a loved one is diagnosed with T1D, it can be a traumatic and stressful time. Fear, sadness, anger, guilt and confusion about how to manage the disease can leave families feeling alone and overwhelmed. Please feel free to join us for our monthly T1D Parent Meetings, as we can share our experiences in an informal setting, giving opportunity to learn from each other. The adult meetings are open to extended family members and friends that want to learn more about the disease and how to best support their loved ones.

Kelowna meetings are held on the second Monday of every month, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Coast Capri Hotel lounge in Kelowna.

In case of holidays or summer meeting dates, please join our facebook group "Okanagan Type One Parents"  or contact Pam Prentice for updated information on our meetings at 250.765.9366 or

We hope to see you there!

2016 TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes

It was amazing to see our community pull together as a team to produce the Kelowna TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday, June 12, 2016. Working together we raised $70,000 to help cure, treat and prevent T1D and turn type 1 into type none!

The TELUS Walk is a unique opportunity to bring together the entire T1D community of families, friends and businesses who all share a vision of having a world without T1D. We get a chance to have a big "family picnic" and celebrate the fact that one day we will know a world without needles and finger pokes thanks to the research we are helping fund.

On behalf of the JDRF staff, volunteers, and the families living with T1D - thank you for joining the community and for helping to make the 2016 TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes a tremendous success!

We look forward to seeing you at next year's event!

You are cordially invited to attend the 11th annual Starlight Gala in support of JDRF and celebrate the advances we’ve made in T1D research!

Experience the rich colours and stunning visuals inspired by the beloved adventures of Alice in Wonderland.  Come dressed as your favorite Lewis Carroll character, and don’t be late for this very important date, as we take one more step towards turning type 1 into type NONE.

Date: Saturday, October 22, 2016

Time: 6:00 p.m. cocktail reception

Location: Coast Capri Hotel, Kelowna, BC
