The TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes is an annual celebration of the hope of, one day, living in a world free from insulin injections, finger pokes, and the constant threat of developing complications. It raises awareness of T1D, as well as critical funds for research to better treat, prevent, and ultimately cure this disease.

The Family Network of Volunteers
When a loved one is diagnosed with diabetes, it can be a traumatic and stressful time. Fear, sadness, anger, and confusion about how to manage the disease can leave families feeling alone and overwhelmed.
Through the Family Network of Volunteers, families and individuals touched by diabetes can paired with a trained mentor – someone who has “been there” and experienced the challenges of being newly diagnosed. Family Network volunteers can provide information about diabetes resources, educate families about what they can do to help find a cure, and lend a willing ear. Our Family Network is free of charge and membership never expires!
Please note: our team can only share their personal experiences with you. We are not healthcare professionals and are unable to provide medical advice. The information provided by our team is not intended to take the place of medical advice, for which you should consult your doctor or other healthcare professionals.
The members of Building Trades of Alberta are T1D Heroes. With their ongoing support of the JDRF, Fund a Cure program via the Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation, the members continue to accelerate research towards a cure. At a cheque presentation on February 24, 2 year old JDRF Ambassador Liam, personally thanked BTACF President, Warren Fraleigh by trying to corral the multitude of Fund a Cure bears that were on display. We are grateful for their years of support and anticipate a day when these efforts will result in our research benefiting all people living with type 1 diabetes and other immune related conditions.
We are pleased to announce Parkwood Master Builder as a Platinum Sponsor for the 2016 TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes in Edmonton. As part of their ongoing commitment to building a great community to match their quality homes, each year, Parkwood Master Builder, constructs a “Benefit House”. The proceeds from the sale of this house are directed to support organizations that help to improve the lives of people in the region. Parkwood Master Builder has supported JDRF since 2011 through the Fund a Cure Program at our Denim and Diamonds Gala. We are excited to have the team at Parkwood Master Builder join us for the June 12th Walk and other upcoming events.
