The School Advisory Toolkit offers collaborative methods for educators and parents of children with diabetes to ensure that every child enjoys the best possible school experience.
As a parent, you know that your child spends most of their day in the school setting, in the care of teachers and other school personnel. Most parents are comfortable with this environment, as most students’ needs are common; however, as the parent of a child with diabetes, you know that the day-to-day management of the disease is intensive and requires understanding from the school staff.
JDRF understands the importance of your child’s care in the school setting. Upon the request of concerned parents, JDRF initiated the development of the School Advisory Toolkit, with contributions from members of the National Volunteer Community Engagement Committee and parents of children living with diabetes. We hope this information will help equip you with basic, easy to understand tools that will assist you in communicating with your child’s school.
