South Asian Health Research Study (University of Toronto)

Study Goal 

  • To study South Asian Canadians’ experience with chronic inflammatory diseases, including type 1 diabetes (T1D)
  • Researchers at University of Toronto are recruiting 2 types of participants in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Interview 

  • Receive $25 cash for participating in a 1-hour interview at an agreed upon location in the GTA
  • Interview involves sharing your thoughts and opinions on chronic inflammatory diseases and access to health care services

Eligibility: Participant Type 1 

  • 18-29 years of age
  • South Asian descent
  • Born in Canada to a parent born in South Asia*
  • Have been diagnosed with any chronic inflammatory diseases**, including T1D

Eligibility: Participant Type 2 

  • Any age
  • South Asian* descent
  • Born in South Asia*
  • Have a child, who:
    • Is of any age
    • Was born in Canada
    • Has been diagnosed with any chronic inflammatory diseases**, including T1D

*South Asian countries include: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka

**Chronic inflammatory diseases include: Asthma, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), multiple sclerosis (MS), type 1 diabetes (T1D), ulcerative colitis, etc.
