JDRF, proud to be part of George Canyon’s “The Sky’s Not the Limit” Tour!

Canadian country music artist George Canyon flew to select cities across Canada to perform his music and share stories of an inspired life with diabetes! 

Diagnosed at age 14 with type 1 diabetes, George has not let diabetes hold him back from achieving his life’s goals.  Now a Juno award-winning country artist, certified pilot, and honorary colonel in the Canadian Air Force, George aims to inspire people with type 1 diabetes to pursue their dreams, no matter what the odds.

JDRF is grateful to George Canyon, Animas Canada and the other event sponsors for including JDRF in “The Sky’s Not the Limit” Tour! JDRF staff, volunteers and families were honoured to take part in this amazing experience.

Thanks so much to you for this ENCOURAGING event!  We all learned so much! And our 6 year old pumper, Gavin, has been quoting diabetes facts from George's talk ever since. We were all very encouraged and are now doing 10 blood glucose checks/day - up from 6, after hearing George does his 14!  Thanks SO MUCH for all the work that went into this event - it matters so much to take care of the mind and let the child then get the vision to take care of his body. JDRF does a lot for kids like me.  For instance, a couple of weeks ago George Canyon performed in Calgary and we got to hear him sing, and he also talked about living with type one diabetes and how he manages his blood sugar levels with an insulin pump (and of course many blood sugar checks…he does 14 per day!).  Our family is now considering this as a way to help me manage my diabetes. -  Leanne Nordh, Calgary, AB
