Third Party Events

The possibilities are endless, but can make giving very simple!

Think about Third Party events in your neighborhood, workplace or school. Corporate events, sales events, golf tourneys, casual Fridays, birthday parties, BBQs, bake sales, garage sales - you name it and we can help!

You may also be eligible to receive a tax receipt for certain event costs. Contact Beth Thompson at 403-255-7100 or e-mail bthompson@jdrf.ca to assist with your third party events.

Oyen Golf Tournament

Sherry & Troy Maclean held a golf tourney, dinner & silent auction at the Oyen & District Golf Club in support of JDRF on June 12.  Some 40 golfers showed up on the slightly soggy course, raising nearly $4000.

Carpenters Union Golf Tourney

Local 2103 selected JDRF to be the recipient of their proceeds from their 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Silverwing Links Golf Course in June.

Racing for Rainbows

In early June, despite the rain, local media, a mayoral candidate, and members of the Calgary Police Service took to their tricycles in the downtown police parking lot.  All racers had a great time, with Barb Higgins emerging as top trike racer of the day!  Riders had pledges for their participation, and a BBQ to follow with all proceeds to JDRF!

Thanks Jon!

Auctioneer Jon Radcliffe grew his hair for a year - then took pledges to shave it off to raise money for JDRF. Jon had great support from friends and colleagues, and over the May long weekend, in front of a crowd, Jon had his head shaved.

Silpada!

Thank you to Silpada rep Lorie Masur for donating $5 from every purchase at her recent Silpada event!

Riley Beatty Skate-A-Thon

On Saturday, March 27, Riley and nearly 60 of his friends gathered, pledges in hand to do a skate-a-thon in support of JDRF.  Riley’s group raised $28000 - enough to purchase his own insulin pump, and to donate $21,000 to JDRF.
Riley came up with the idea “because I feel like I need to do it on my own (buy the pump) and for JDRF because I don’t think I should have to live with diabetes for the rest of my life and I don’t think I will”.  There were a lot of kids in action, making a difference.

CPS 3rd Annual Racing for Rainbows

On June 9 at 11:00 a.m. downtown Calgary will witness a tricycle race like no other.  Members & friends of the police collect a minimum of $50 for JDRF to participate in a tricycle race through the downtown police parking lot.  There are several heats to determine a final winner who receives nothing in return for their efforts but gratitude!

Cut for the Cure

Ella recently asked for donations for JDRF to cut her hair – all in support of her friend Beth who has type 1 diabetes.  Ella raised over $850 and had a pretty good fan club attend the officially cutting!  Thanks again Ella.

Riley Beatty Skate-A-Thon

With the help of Riley’s family and friends, he is staging the First Annual Riley Beatty Skate-A-Thon for Juvenile Diabetes.  For this event, Riley is splitting the proceeds between JDRF and a fund to purchase his own insulin pump.  For future events, proceeds will go towards helping others buy their pumps.  This is a pledge style fundraiser, taking place March 27th, 2010 at Westside Recreation Centre from 12:00 – 1:15 pm. Riley came up with the idea “because I feel like I need to do it on my own (buy the pump) and for JDRF because I don’t think I should have to live with diabetes for the rest of my life and I don’t think I will”.

Philanthropic Kidz

The children in this program decided to fundraise for JDRF because one of the children has type 1 diabetes. They baked their own “sweet treats”, had a bake sale selling nothing for more than $2, and raised nearly $100 for JDRF.  Thanks KidZinc for demonstrating you’re never too young to give!
Motivated to find a cure!

Relatively new to JDRF, the Miller family became involved when daughter Beth was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in early 2009. Since then, they’ve participated in many JDRF activities, and the whole family - Ron, Heather, Adam, Drew, and Beth - have all shown their commitment to a cure by requesting donations to JDRF in lieu of birthday presents Thank you Millers!

Matching donations make a difference.

At a recent client appreciation event, Caltech Senex encouraged their guests to make a donation to JDRF, and Caltech then matched all donations.  Thank you Caltech for your support!

 Thank You!

Moss has pledged to JDRF $100.00 for every regular season goal and $200.00 for each post-season goal for the 2009-2010 season.

We would like to send out a huge thank you to David Moss and the Calgary Flames for this invaluable project.

You can keep track of David’s progress during the season by visiting the Flames website.

We will be updating the site after each Flames game and you can watch the total grow from here. Additionally, you will be able to go through our web page for a link to this program.

If individuals or corporate donors would like to match the total that David is donating to JDRF, please contact us and we will create a donation page tracking the progress. If individuals or corporate donors would like to donate a different amount based upon David’s offensive production, we can make that work as well.

Many thanks to David & Melanie Moss, the Calgary Flames and Pengrowth Management for their donation of tickets to JDRF Calgary. Our kids were thrilled to meet David after the game! Thanks for putting the smiles on their faces and joining us in our efforts to find a cure.

Let’s go Flames!

The 2009’ Stampede Charity Golf Classic

Thank you Calgary!

Thank you to Sutton Real Estate Group and their support of JDRF’s mission to find a cure for diabetes!

The 2009 Stampede Charity Golf classic, that took place July 2, 2009 at Lynx Ridge Golf Club, was a great success. Many thanks to the golfers, sponsors donors and volunteers who made this day such a success!
