Take Action!

This past summer, JDRF Canada launched its Promise to Remember Me campaign to establish and nurture direct relationships between constituents of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community and their elected officials. The idea behind this initiative is to educate our Members of Parliament (MP) about their essential role in continuing Canada’s legacy in T1D research. JDRF is requesting a new funding commitment from the Government of Canada in order to scale up the JDRF Canadian Clinical Trial Network (JDRF CCTN) nationally, bringing its benefits to all Canadians.

Established in 2009 with $20 million from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) and $13.9 million from JDRF donors, JDRF CCTN is an incubator and accelerator for clinical trials aimed at curing, treating and preventing T1D.

JDRF is proposing a strategic research partnership with the Government of Canada. We are prepared to commit $15 million in new funding and are seeking a similar amount from the government. This new funding will make possible up to 10 new clinical trials across Canada, paving the way for exciting new breakthroughs in how this extremely challenging disease is treated.

There are many useful ways to show your support for JDRF’s proposal from face-to-face meetings to phone calls, letters or emails or even social media. All are useful in their own way.
